- Build a VCF workload domain and follow its storage, compute, and network configuration through Day 2 operations.
- Practice vSAN clusters, stretched clusters, encryption, data protection, capacity sharing, and storage policies.
- Learn the difference between Provider Management and VCF All Apps administration.
- Practice Supervisor deployment, VKS updates, package management, and registry access.
- Use VCF Operations for capacity, cost, policies, alerts, applications, and resource reclamation.
- Review fleet upgrades, IAM, SSO, and configuration drift.
- Study the NSX workflow from Edge cluster deployment through gateways, segments, VPCs, DHCP, and NAT.
When reading a scenario, identify the management layer first. Similar tasks may be performed through vCenter, VCF Operations, Fleet Management, Provider Management, an organization portal, or NSX.
Common Preparation Mistakes
Ignoring concepts from sections without objectives
Sections 1, 2, 3, and 5 have no separately listed objectives, but related knowledge still appears inside Section 4 scenarios. Performance and troubleshooting are clear examples.
Studying every component in isolation
The exam covers an integrated private cloud. Practice tracing how a storage, identity, networking, or lifecycle change affects the wider VCF environment.
Confusing provider and organization administration
Provider Management, Provider Consumption Organizations, VCF All Apps organizations, projects, and namespaces operate at different scopes. Know who manages each object and where it is configured.
Using only older VMware terminology
The VCF 9 blueprint uses names such as VCF Operations, Fleet Management, Config Drift, Business Applications, Business Intent, and Operational Intent. Older training may use former product names.
Memorizing NSX components without their dependencies
Scenario questions may ask what must exist before a segment, gateway, VRF, or VPC can be configured. Study the deployment order, not just the definitions.
Skipping Day 2 operations
Backups, restores, logging, upgrades, alerts, cost settings, forecasts, rightsizing, and configuration drift are all part of the official scope.
